I'm new to Diesel engines, I have a 2008 f350 6.4 and love it! I know that bad mpg comes with the territory but I'm looking at a few mods I can install to improve the fuel efficiency a bit. I see on threads that the dpf delete is big,when installing a tuner and eliminating the cats. I am looking at air intakes right now as that is the first thing I'm going to purchase and install. I've narrowed it Down to the AFE,but asking done help on which model performs the best for my needs. Thanks for any advice you can provide...

 

I have the AFE stage II Magnum FORCE PRO 5R and I gained about 1 MPG with it. I was like you and bought everything separately as I could afford it and the first thing I bought was the cold air intake. It was easy to install and the AFE is nicely constructed. The AFE stage II will require a fair amount of maintenance though. I try and clean mine twice on the 5,000 oil change interval.

 

Thanks for the advice, is the 5r a dry filter or does it need lubricant?

 

I have a Stage 2 with Pro Guard 7 Filter. Brand new in the box if you're interested. It's an oiled filter.
