I tried this over in the Appearance & Dress up foroum, but didn't get much traffic, so,,,,,
I'm thinking of blackingout my F150 XLT badges on the fenders and tailgate, and highlighting the logos in my Tomato red body colour. I'm thinking of PlastiDip them black, and then use FoMoCo Race Red touch up paint on the inset lettering. Does anyone know if the paint is compatible with the plastidip?. I'm also thinking of blackingout my chrome doorhandles, those will be plastidip.
I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off just removing the badges and do it all off the truck where I could more easily paint the lettering. Reinstalling the badges shouldn't be a problem, RTV makes a good sealant as well as adhesive.
I saw someone on here did theirs in black, with blue lettering and thought it looked good on a FX4, IIRC.
my brother did his emblems. Painted the chrome part black and the inlay silver. came out really well. I have thought about plasti dipping my badges and front and rear chrome bumpers.
Ya, I've thought about doing the bumpers and maybe the grille in my body colour as well, but haven't gotten any info if the PlastiDip is available in Race Red, er, tomato. Possibly, just do the bumpers in black, and if the Ford paint is compatible, have them sprayed tomato.

I like that, and the lower grille fills that hole up nicely. I've got that as well, but mine is still polished, plus, I have the chrome package with billet type grille. Did you have it painted directly over the chrome? How's it holding up? In years past, I've seen where people painted their chrome, but it didn't hold up very well. I'm trying to picture mine in the red, as well as the lower grille. My madness is saying to PlastiDip, then spray red over it. Most people like chrome, and a little is fine, but I'd like less. With the plastidip underneath, when/if resale time comes, I could peel everything off, and re-expose that shiny stuff.
Madness? Or a sane idea?
Looks like you have to create your own color...Smart move on their part really...Keeps people from saying something didn't match.
LOL, that guy aint right!! He startled the snail snot out of me in the first video with his "HI"!
I didn't see that option on their website or foroum, I just don't trust myself enough to get the exact match, but something to keep in mind.
Well my step dad and brother both do paint and body. Im the mechanic. We bought the paint and sprayed it at the house. Sanded the chrome down really well. Did everything your supposed to do before paint. It has 4 coats of tux black and 3 coats clear. We left the inside portion primer black to set the colors off a little. It's automotive paint so its holding up just like it should. No flaking or fading. I'm not sure if you can paint over the plastidip. It's a rubber/latex so I'm thinkin the paint might flake off that. Might want to call them and see if its possible
Thanks. It's a work in progress still. Adding little things as I can. Next is aux reverse led lights. I have them, just haven't taken the time to install and wire.
