Tonight while coming home after my truck sitting about 1 1/2 hrs. I started the truck and drove about equiv. to 4 blocks maybe less. maybe more. about 1/4 mile or so. I noticed as I pulled into the driveway at home a noise like boiling water in the radiator. I have never heard this before and I know the radiator has plenty of fluid checked it the other day. I was wondering if this could be a Thermostat problem overheating or sticking open? I don't know how to change the thermostat in my truck and I am about basic when it comes to doing things. I might need a little help if you think that is it. I need to get to the mechanic and have the radiator flushed and filled because the Truck is about 8 years old now and I have no clue when it was changed last. Oh ya it is 95 Ford Ranger Splash 3.0 Auto......
Whether or not you need to do anything about the problem (if this is what you're experiencing) depends upon the severity. Are you blowing seams on radiators yet? I'm on my 3rd radiator but still haven't added the kit; partially because it's somewhat manageable, but also because the kit involves replacing the lower hose with a customized version containing a molded-in "T" adapter: I don't think it's sold separately, and the kit is $150.
If you do decide to do the kit, keep me informed via this thread or private e-mail.
I guess it would not be the best to say a thump this morning after some rest I would think that boiling type bubbling sound would be the best way to put it. That help anyone?
I have sit in the truck a bit longer after I figured out that I had plenty of fluid and it appears clean. When I removed the radiator cap I got a few bubbles in the overflow tank. It reads just fine too. I think some of my noise that I hear is my gas dripping back from the fuel pump. I got out of the truck and listened and I can hear something near the middle of the bed sounds like a drip so I am assuming that my fuel line is feeding excess pulled fuel back into the tank and I haven't noticed the boiling sound as noticable since I removed the radiator cap and put it back on. I wonder if maybe I had a seal leaking. I might need to buy a new cap.
