Get a wiring diagram , ck powers and grounds .You cked the plug for damage ? Have the alt . cked on vehicle . Bench test is not always accurate , it does not properly load the alt. I have seen many bench test good , but not charge properly .

Alternator

I've had it checked on the trk and bench tested. I've checked and sprayed the plugs with electric cleaner and used dielectric lub. I checked everything I can find. I just put it back on and it's charging. But it's been charging and not for a few days so I'm not sure I have found the problem.

Do you have the old 2 plug alt. 1 small 1 big grey,or black large wire plug ? There have been a lot of problems with the large plug . Ck for full voltage at plug ck conditon of wires . If intermintant , could be a bad regulator . Also ck belt tens . If a reman alt. It is probably a bad regulator .You can't buy anything worth a crap anymore !

Alternator

It's 96 with 302 Eddie B addition. As far as the trans, I don't know. This is my first bronco. I had a 72 blazer for years before so real up to date on ford trans, i just wished it was a c6! This bronco is my everyday driver. I really like it and want to do some mods to it. Headers and duals, not loud just deep. Also want to install a couple of sun roofs in as we'll. Its sitting on 33x12.5x15's. No, lift just front bumper cut a little. Hope I didn't go off the deep end describing it.

Perfect ! Not overboard . ! Now I hope others with more info on hand will jump in . Still I think you need to look at the big plug closely !Small plug also is important ,Ck. power and ground cont. . A good meter would help a lot ! Good luck !! I will dig out a book or get something from Mitchel or Alldata tomorrow ,if no one else comes around .

Not that it matters much but LAbronc, unless the previous owner changeed the trans out, it should be an E4od. If it is a manual then it is is the Mazda trans (don't know the name). If it has been modified it could be the AOD the C-6 or any other number of possibility. The trans won't really matter though if it is an alternator issue. My short memory can't remember if you tried a different battery or not, but maybe that? While it is running put a voltage meter on the battery. It should read something like 14 volts I think? The cables on the inside might also be corroded so keep an eye out for that.

This happened to my ground cable causing my truck not to start at all

Could the fender mounted solenoid cause my alternator to sometimes not charge? It charges sometime and sometimes not. The reason I ask is working on my bronco when I moved the wires on the solenoid from the alt it started charging again.

It seems like you found the problem. Start by looking at the wires you moved and see if they are corroded or broken then you know what the issue is. It sounds to me like you are getting closer though unfortunately I don't know much in terms of the EFI and newer system bronco's so I can only bounce ideas around.
