Installing 05 nose. With Pics

Ordering up a 05+ front end, as soon as I choose between some options. The best bargain I have found is the Ebay way, unless someone can point me towards a better deal. Note, I am gonna go with the Harley Davidson "black" lights with whichever package I end up with.

Option 1 - Eddie Bauer with HD black lights.
Front bumper and bumper pad-Painted tan to match the cladding.
Grille-Painted estate green to match the truck.
(Anyone know if the honeycome inserts are also painted to match, or just gray? Hard to tell in the pic.)

Option 2 - Super Duty with HD black lights
Front bumper-Chrome
Front bumper pad-painted tan to match the cladding
Grille-Chrome - big solid bars

I am leaning towards the chrome look. I have sent the seller a request for my HD lights swap in this package for sale.

I like the chrome and plan on doing it at some point. I've looked at that eBay stuff before. Make sure that package comes with mounting brackets. I see some do and that one didn't list them.

I figured on using my existing brackets. Anyone know if they will bolt up? I am going with the chrome.

You will need the newer bumper brackets...the lights and grill use your same stuff..

I like the chrome look but would paint the top of bumper tan not green

Check this thread...

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...gold-mine.html

He told me he would drop ship the parts to members of FTE for no charge last time I was there. It is worth a call. You would save a ton of money on your conversion. Ask for Abe. He will work with you on price if you haggle with him.

I like the grille inserts, I have considered the billet grille.

Thank you for that pic. I forget, did you do the DIY painted black HD mod or are your lights the "real HD lights". No offense but seeing the lights side by side, I kinda like the clear now. Oh these life altering decisions .

Hey Russ, I knew your vote before you said so . You might paint the air dam and head lights all to match.

Save the extra money and just replace the bumper skin for some new chrome upgrade the grille, give you that halfa$$ 05+ look for cheap. No matter how much of a face lift you give she will still be the same old hag underneath.

I vote for all chrome with tan upper bumper. I did this exact conversion except for I used the factory upper bumper, which because it's a Limited, was painted body color. Looks much better than the original factory painted parts. Even though the factory bumper was only on for a short time, I've seen plenty of others that have the bumpers rusting bad. The chrome has held up great and doesn't show stone chips at all.

The chrome grill (also an OEM replacement from the dealer) has also held up quite well, but it does show a few stone chips. Not bad, and the finish in general has held up well. It doesn't chip any more/less than the older style grill though.

Painted '05 grills have a tan plastic honeycomb behind the grill that matches the running board plastic. The chrome grills have black honeycomb (which matches the XLS/XLT running boards since the chrome came on those trims).

I have decided convenience is worth the price in this case. I don't want the hassle of finding all the right parts needed. I won't bother cutting the header panel. I love the idea all new parts. So being budget is not an issue, I will order the complete conversion kit from MKM customs. With fog lights of course. I will still have to decide between regular or HD lights, if they are willing to swap HD into the kit.
