LOL, this is what you meant a little while ago when you told me I have to "turn up the tune". Where do I get SRL tunes from...I am guessing the SRL+ is for studded trucks?
SRL is for Studded and non-studded trucks, SRL+ and SRL++ is for studded trucks.
He also has a SRL Extreme tune. I ran a 14.4 with a full tank of fuel and the toolbox in the truck full using the extreme tune. I might have to empty the toolbox and burn off some fuel and try again next spring.
I run the SRL (non stud version) from Matt at Gearhead Automotive Performance. As someone said earlier, Matt and Larz are widely liked on this forum. They offer good products, product support and customer service. I liked their price as well, since they offer discounts for military.
I also run their tow tunes as well, when towing my enclosed trailer. No complaints from those either.
I have run the Unlimited tow, 8K tow and SRL in my truck and liked the 8k tow and SRL. Unlimited tow just changes shift points but helps.
I towed my 10,000 lbs 5er back from Yellowstone with the 8k tow and unstudded.
Probably today or tommorow I will get my truck back from being bulletproofed with studs. (Head gaskets were not bad but had to replace HPOP and was already in there so it is getting done). I will be getting the SRL+ tune soon when money tree fills back up.
I rode in Chris's truck last Saturday and it does pretty well. (Actually it is scary fast)
There are so many options out here, it is hard to decide which one to go with! Looks as thought SRL and Looney Tunes are the most popular from the responses...
Do these companies tunes have multiple settings? Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to diesel tuning. Right now I just have a work horse chip but I want more variety in my fun.

The custom tunes are a computer program used to overwrite the OEM program in the PCM.
If you want a different "setting" you upload another program.
If you like the option of powering up or going for fuel economy try the Banks 6 gun. Works well for me. Six progressive power settings and 1 all out crazy setting.

Until your Trans takes a dump from the Banks not tuning the Trans enough.
Truck is at the shop gettin "bulletproofed" so not I am looking to get a SCT tuner. Do you all have any tunes you suggest. I am not trying to do anything like race. Although, I would love a lope tune, heard it kills the injectors off though, bummer...
Cheers,
Check out several tune writers, most have the SCT X3 with 3 custom tunes for $425-$429. Vivian at Quicktricks sells X3 with unlimited tunes for $425, that should give you around 11 tunes.
I haul hotshot with my '06 and have Matt's tunes. I run the 8K Tow. I have all 3 tunes (SRL,8K,Unlimited) but stick with the 8K because I've never had a need to change it. I gross 26,000 and run freeway speed (70+) most of the time with no need for more power. Having said that, it LOVES fuel. I average 9-11 mpg loaded pulling a 26' flatbed. If the exhaust didn't sound so good I'd probably get another 2-3 mpg.
So I went with Quick Tricks Auto, loaded up the Looney Wild tonight....my GOODNESS!!! Its like I bought a brand new vehicle. It was raining tonight, so I didnt wanna go too crazy. Tomorrow I will go at it again, lol
