Time to Upgrade

I'll be out in San Diego in about a month. Currently I drive a 2003 Expedition XLT 4.6L V8 2WD. I've had this truck since I was 16 (roughly 5 years) and its my first vehicle. I was looking to upgrade to a F150 when I get out there. I could use some help from you guys if you're willing to help. I don't know the area at all and who/where to avoid when buying a truck. I'm specifically looking for a 2004 or better F150 4X4 with the 5.4L V8, preferrably under 150k miles, and 3 or 4 door. No short bed either. If you guys could help, that would be awesome. It would help shorten the process on search and destroy for me.

Thanks in advance,
Zak

I can tell you what I would NOT do. I would not buy one out of state and then try to register it when I moved here. It's just a PITA.

I would suggest Carmax. Their web site is very easy to shop, and they are easy to deal with. No haggling. I think they are the best used car dealer to work with.

If you want to go private party, then Craigslist always has a ton of trucks.

I agree with Craig's list, a good way to see what's on the market- by private seller or dealer. los angeles cars & trucks - by owner classifieds - craigslist

I was planning on having it registered in Florida because of no state inspections and such. My main address is back in FL and it would just be a lot easier for me that way.
