Ok so I'm in the process of buying new injectors for my 91 NA 7.3. I've priced the G codes at my local shops. And searched online for bb's. I'm leaning to the bb side only bc, I've been reading, and it appears the G's were more for emissions. Which in my experience will me lower mpg's and HP.
Either way, where did you buy your G/BB's? Found new Delphi bb's on eBay but they are about 40% cheaper which seems shady...
Russ (user name Type4) sells a matched pop tested set of injectors that have been recomended here. I got a set of BB coded Lucas injectors off Ebay from an individual, not a store that worked well. I would think the NEW injectors should be all right, but I would shy away from the remaned ones.
Nothing wrong with "reman'd" injectors, you just have to go with a retailer that thoroughly "re-mans" them. Most retaillers just throw some crap together, and you get what you get... but there is options out there for high quality rebuilds...
As far as the G-code emissions wives tale goes, it comes down to this... The E and G codes were implemented for lower emissions, yes, however, this was done by raising the pop pressures, and small slight pintle differences (mainly pop pressure)... all it does is decrease injection time, and therefore particulate emissions. You don't lose any power, in fact you get a better burn, and less smoke... I really like BB codes when they are set to about 2200 or so, the pattern is nice and tight...
Only issue with the Delphi/lucas/cav stuff is the quality isn't real good out of the box, they should be pulled apart and inspected, re-assembled and matched... they are the best injectors if that is done.
Scratch the G... They're BB codes, wasn't paying attention to my typing.
Anyway, got them in... Huge difference! Not bc they are BB's and not G's tho. I think just bc they're new and a matched set. There were about 3 diff ones in the truck, all in poor shape.
HOWEVER, nearly all the new return lines are leaking at the hose ends. Half have the spring clips, half have 1/4" hose clamps (didn't over tighten). Both are leaking badly.
Thoughts? The hose has a mesh outer cover, not sure it makes a diff.
Well I went back through and removed each cap, checked o-rings, and connection between cap and hose... I believe I now got them all took care of. Probly just my hurried approach and my work area (dark driveway).
But I did have te #1 injector start leaking up through the treads on the head. Called shop, and they are sending me another injector.

This is the Quality I was talking about... Ive done a couple of brand new sets that didnt run right, took them completely down, reassembled and matched them.. they were perfect after I was done working the magic on them.... They dont leak when they are torqued with a torque wrench... you would think the factory would be better about that...

If im not mistaken, you may be referring to my set i brought you. and those were brand new 100 mile injectors.....
