Question Anyone tried compounds?

Just curious if anyone has tried compounds on the 7.3? I know they worked well on the 6.4 but then that was the only motor that had them .... Mostly DD and towing so I thought they could be an option.

Years ago, when compounds were being bandied about, I remember seeing a YouTube vid of someone who had put compounds on his truck and it was very badass. It EASILY broke traction just rolling into the accelerator.

You Tube? Did you not get to see Joey's truck at live tuning earlier this year?
Joey (Terminator Eng.) is running compounds on both of his rigs. The '97 and the big HP '95 I believe. From what I heard, he had the truck out on Sat. and couldn't have bought himself traction on the damp roads.

For full competition truck I'd say go for it. But for a DD and towing you'd probably hate driving it.

Please explain.... Lots of guys have compounds and no issues. It's all about proper sizing.

That's the first I've heard. Everyone I've read about complained in how laggy they were as a in town DD

Pretty sure there was a video out for a 7.3 running a compound set up using a pro charger and turbo that was a dd and had positive feedback with the set up

Can someone explain why compounds are setup and routed the way they are?


I would've expected the exhaust out of the engine manifold to enter turbine Turbo1, compressed air to then drive turbine of Turbo2, compressed air then feeds the engine...


In the picture above exhaust enters turbine1, exits, re-enters turbine2, exist downpipe. Compressed air from turbo2 enters intake for turbo1 to then feed the motor...
