Don't be nervous about it. They are GREAT engines that just need some special care. You need to find out if the EGR system has been replaced, worked on or deleted...VERY IMPORTANT! The 5R110 tranny in that thing is awesome, too. I think you should be looking at $14-16k on that X based on my experience. That said, I am in Texas and the prices on all things Ford diesel are lower here.
There is a GREAT 6.0L forum down below this one that is FULL of great, helpful members if you want DETAILED opinions on that 6.0L. My Dad has one and loves it. He deleted his EGR and catalytic converter and chipped his. It will absolutely throw your head back when you punch the go pedal.
I really could use some advise guys. The stealership is asking 30,000 for the vehicle. KBB puts it around 27,000 for retail price. I was thinking maybe 25 or 26 for the vehicle. Help please!
I paid $10,500 for my 97K 2005 Limited with the v10 this month. Good shape other than sagebrush scratches (AZ rancher truck) and in need of shocks. 8 hours with the right polishing compounds and a set of Bilsteins later, looking and running like it should.
I was at a winning bid for a good Eddie Bauer 2004 110k 6.0 of $16,500 when the dealer backed out on the ebay deal. I think you could find a prime example for the miles and a year newer for a lot closer to $20K. Get it inspected by a good Ford 4X4 shop!
Somebody was smoking the reefer when they posted that eBay ad!
04fivefour, you got a great deal on yours! And there are plenty more out there priced like yours. You just have to be patient and thorough with your search SBC. I could never see paying $30k for a 8 year old car. Ever.
I paid 12k for mine w 150k on the clock. 1 quarter size dent, 3 scratches, mint interior.
Guy I bought it from put all new brakes on it. By new I mean rotors, pads, calipers and lines. New set of 8 ply tires and he also changed every single fluid and all associated filters.
The 6.0 is smoother than a 7.3 in my opinion. A 7.3 with low miles will in the ball park of 18k and up.
Read up on the maintenance that the diesels require and the costs involved.
A good excursion with a diesel is an investment and nothing will compare to it!!! My wife and kids love the X!!!
