My 2003 F250 Superduty 4X4 has developed a problem where the hood light comes on intermittently when driving down the road. I've pulled the bulb but would like to fix the problem. The problem I have is I can't find the switch. Is the socket some kind of situational switch? Thanks in advance for your help.
I was thinking the same exact thing, that's talent! My bulb is out so i was going to replace it with a switch and some LED strips to make it look cooler and brighter
Driving at night on rough roads there is an intermittent blinking white light from under the hood.
Now that I know the socket is a situational switch, I can see that it is not installed properly. One end is not latched in place so I believe it is bouncing up an down allowing the switch to turn on and off. I snapped it in place and will reinstall the bulb to see if it is fixed. Thanks all.
this post is funny, i noticed mine two days ago doing this. My daughter walked in the living room and said "Dad your lights are on in your truck". Walked outside and they were off, walked closer and the dam hood light was on! Opened the hood and i can hear the light socket clicking loudly, i just unplugged it intill i decide to replace it or add a bigger brighter light with a switch. probally gonna do the second one after winter
