Question pulling in overdrive

I have a 2001 psd with the 6 speed manual, supercab, 4x4. I now have a fifth wheel that weighs about 5500 lbs. Is it ok to pull in od? It has lots of get up & go but will the transmission hold up or will my exhaust temps get to high. I usually run Kansas, about 65 mph, 1900 rpm with 3.73 gears. We do have strong headwinds from time to time (25-35 mph).
Any suggestions?

Tow in OD and take it out if it bogs down. You don't have to worry about towing in OD because it's a manual transmission. The main reason for taking a vehicle out of OD when towing is to avoid "seeking" in and out of OD with an automatic. Tow in OD and save the money for more fuel.

Thanks. I hadn't heard much about not using overdrive but another DODGE man said that his has a planetary overdrive setup and the bearings are too light. Nothing that $2500 dollors wouldn't fix. He now runs in high whenever he pulls. (About 55 mph)

Should have bought a Ford.
