the older dually rears were longer than the SRW rears to compensate for the extra wheels.
the 99 and newer trucks use different spring mounts. i have heard a SRW rear will bolt to a pre 99 pickup frame with minor modifications. the spring mounts are something like 3/4 inch off.
BUT the 99 and newer uses the 8X170 bolt pattern which is different than the 8X6.5 bolt pattern of the pre 99 trucks and the wheels do not interchange between years.
plus you will have to convert the drum brake hydraulic system to a 4 wheel disc system. by introducing a proportioning valve into the rear system and setting it to prevent the rear brakes overpowering the fronts.
all in all not a real big deal, but a properly adjusted and working drum brake system will work just as good as disc do, with the exception of brake fade over long braking events.
another option for rear disc brakes is the 99 to 05 van rear axle. it is a dana 60, so you would have to fabricate caliper mounts, but you would at least have ford calipers and rotors instead of a mix match or gm and ford parts like the aftermarket disc brake guys use.
