GHOST!

Hey guys, My 1997 7.3 psd is acting wierd! After starting, cold or warm it does not matter, the idle is erratic bounces 50 to 100 rpm. no codes. You can turn the truck off and re-start and then it runs perfect! however sometimes it might take shutting the truck off and turning it back on numerous times. I dont get it! Drove it today and no mater how many times i shut it off and turned it back on it would not quit the up and down idling. PLEASE HELP!

If its an auto , try starting it in neutral , see if it improves ... The Connector on the ICP sensor may be corroded , or the sensor leaking oil too

I am not too familiar with the PSD quite yet... only had mine for a month.

Since I bought it, I have been going through and changing sensors and doing some preventative maintenance just to make sure I know the time frames on all the parts that go out.

I was having an erratic idle as well, not to the extent of what you describe, but it was rougher and sloppier than I like. I replaced the CPS with a grey one from the dealership and it smoothed the idle out.

I may be off base or wrong, but that was my experience.
