For conceal carry, I use the Ruger .380ACP in a pocket holster. I also have a Sneaky Pete holster for it, but the pocket holster is so much easier and better concealed. My wife doesn't even know when I have it.

And for anyone who thinks a .380 isn't an effective weapon -

Open carry, Taurus Judge 3"/3" in a vertical shoulder holster. Technically if I am wearing a jacket it is concealed, but it isn't hidden very well at all.

I have a Taurus .380, and while it's only good for one thing, It's good for that one thing.

Hard to shoot a can a 25 ft. but I don't think I would miss an attacker. Plus it's really loud haha, I use it to round up my gun-shy mutt when he gets loose, he hears that shot he comes running home.

While the .380 can certainly tear up a milk jug, I want to be certain that if I pop someone he doesn't get up or stagger away to a car. I want him to drop right there and not move.

1911 all the way.

.380 will do the job just fine with the right loads, and .380s are a HELL of a lot nicer to carry everyday than a slab-sided honkin' 1911. Carrying everyday is the point, sooner or later you will tire of a full size piece and leave it home.
That's when Mr. Murphy shows up, and you find out that the small weapon you actually HAVE, beats every magnum in existence thats left home because they are PITA to carry.

Well said Dave!

I find myself carrying my BodyGuard .380 more than anything else. It slips into my pocket so nicely and conceals nicely.

Dave,

Well said indeed. I don't think I will run into that problem as here in MD they are still trying to overturn the law.

Here it is not a shall issue state. You have to meet some pretty tough criteria.

I am getting my CCW from Arizona where I am orginally from.

Will that permit be valid in MD? Just curious.............

Aren't the .380's somewhat common back-ups for more LEO's? As mentioned they're potent enough in the right hands.

I carry a .45 acp P90 Ruger full frame all the time. I wear it everywhere I am allowed to carry by law. Some people want to have knock down power with one shot. The .380 is a very good round and has the power to do that, but if someone has big paws they can feel very dainty in the hand. Don't let someone else's opinion deter you from carrying what you feel comfortable with. They are harder to conceal, But a loose t-shirt usually will cover mine so its not that much of a problem, If the bottom of the holster is viewable it really don't matter. It is there for my own safety and not a conversation piece. Remember, it is about safe handling of the weapon, not a fashion show. Practice drawing your weapon form it's holster so it becomes a smooth operation compared to a bungleing idiot dropping a loaded gun, muscle memory is important. When you practice, make sure the weapon is UNLOADED. Lol. Well that's enough for now my parts finally arrived, Back to work.

No, Maryland does recognize almost no other state. But since I travel alot Arizona will work for my purpose.

For a 1911, a good belt is more important than the brand of holster.

For holsters, I've started with "Texas Heritage" IWB | Premium IWB Holsters | Tucker Gun Leather
then this "The Answer" IWB Holster | Hybrid Holster | Tucker Gun Leather
and am now using Conceal Max IWB Holster with J clips. I still use the tucker stuff, and ended up trimming the shepard holster to closer match the profile of the tucker holster, but I like the cant I get with the shepard a little better than the tucker.

As for the belt, I use AG Custom Gun Leather | Premium Hand Crafted Leather Belts with an internal stiffener. My belt will do this with a 1911 in the holster
