I don't know if it's my location or not, but I own 3 old Hotrods and out of the three, the Effie gets so much attention that sometimes it's annoying! I mean I can't go anywhere in this truck without people wanting to talk about it. Gas stations, supermarkets, and even stoplights people want to talk about the truck. I get compliments on the `55 Bel Air and `71 Firebird Foumula, but nothing like this Effie gets.
Today I took it to the corner store and when I came out, some guy had his car parked on the shoulder of the road and was running around the parking lot taking pics from all angles of the truck. So as I was leaving, the guy was still gawking at the truck, so I lit the old girl up and layed 100 foot darkies. As I looked in the RVM, I seen the guy with his jaw on the floor in amazement.
I can't claim to painting any roadway with my tires. I can report that, once again, I was followed around by a friendly who just wanted to talk about the truck. I stopped - he stopped - we talked - we both left happy.
It is great to attract the right kind of attention with these beauties.
She's an older resto-mod with a Camaro front clip, 383 SBC, 2004R trans and 9" rear end. She gets down the road quite well.
I've only had it since august, but I've already logged 2000 miles on her. So much fun to drive.
Nice! A good collection, and the F100 is really cool. It looks like the '55 has a hood scoop and some really big tires in the back, looks like a true hot rod. I bet it has a big block?
I get thumbs up all the time. Stopping anywhere, people always want to take a look. I especially like it when old people or kids show an interest. Old folks like to talk about when the trucks were new and so were they. Kids just like them because they're kids. I invite the old folks and well behaved kids to sit inside. It brings back memories or creates new ones.
The fun is sharing it with others. My wife is my PR person. Everywhere we go she tells me to roll down my window, the person over there wants to talk to you or either see those people waving at you. I always have my mind somewhere else so I would miss out on a lot of fun without her. I always find time to talk with anyone about my truck.
Took her out and ran some errands with my buddy in the truck yesterday. He witnessed the attention it got everytwhere we went and had a great analogy about it. " I see classic and muscle cars all the time on the road, but everytime I see an old truck...it's rotting in a field somewhere".
The best comment to date was from an elderly woman outside the general store..."it's nice to that truck still on the road...if were a few years younger, I'd ask for a ride in it"
my 54 effie was on the trailer on the way to the sandblaster and people were flagging the tow truck down wanting a better look at it. it is a fun truck!
