On the drivers side the little one that goes under the big one is gone. It's been like that since I bought the truck sadly. The plastic part is there, but it's snapped off. Is there a name for it other than "little visor" and I assume Rock Auto is my best bet?
I'd say try a junkyard. Excursion '00-'01 should interchange. I learned the hard way that the visors from other models don't interchange.
I bought a driver's side set from an '01 Navigator for the Homelink for my last Ex and thought I could just swap them. They are very similar in shape, but not exact. As a result, the mounting holes didn't line up and it wouldn't spring up correctly. Just had to remove the Homelink module from that one and put it in mine.
Edit- thanks Mike for clarifying SD won't work. Some (like maybe a Lariat) might, but a simple work truck version definitely won't.
Apocalypse: if u really want the "little visor" pronto, hit up a Ford Dealership & give them your VIN & they will order one for ya. You can get the OEM visor as nature intended to be There is a little known Ford parts policy, fortunately for us Ex owners, Most (If not ALL) OEM parts are still available for our beloved Excursions until 2015. Ford's contract with most of it's suppliers specifically states parts will be available for up to 10 years after the last model year production. so hurry up & buy all the parts you think you'll ever need for the Ex!
I suspected the dealership price would be from another planet on that visor. I have no idea what those folks are thinking at the parts dept...they must think we are all fools.
speaking of...
Does anyone know if it's possible to fix/replace the springs that keep the mirror cover on the visors shut ?
Mine stay open when the visor is folded out all the way to hold a sun-shade against the windshield. As a result the little lights in it stay on.
