Steering Linkage Question
I have a 1978 F150 4x4 with C6 transmission. A 460 was swapped into it, and chained to the frame because I didn't have the correct motor mounts at the time. I'm working on installing headers (Mad Dog Fenderwell exit), and I had to disconnect the steering linkage to make them fit.
It looks like the #5 tube will definitely hit the steering linkage without modification.
Does anyone have experience with the best way to do this? If the only way is to put a dent in it with a hammer, is there a proper way to do this?
The other option: I plan on installing correct motor mounts eventually. Will the aftermarket mounts drop the engine enough for the headers to clear the steering linkage?

The proper way is to use the correct motor mounts so that the Mad Dog Headers can be installed as they were designed to do.
