Looking into upgrading from my 03 4.6, 3.55 limited slip axle to a 13 3.5 ecoboost but unshure about what axle to get. I tow an areolite rv With an unloaded weight of 3,800 and my 03 does pretty good till I travel out west, Montana, and incounter the double whammie of steep grades and brutal head winds. Any insight would be appreciated.

If you are not towing much more than that 3.55 gearing would be all that you would really need especially since the ecoboost will have all that torque. You would also get the better gas mileage when not towing. Some here have also chosen the 3.31's which would still work for you...it would all depend on how often you tow that trailer.
With towing up steep grades etc. I would opt for the 3.55 gearing. Between 3.55 and 3.73 the only advantage you will really have it the extra towing weight ability. Good luck on your choice!
If you did fine with the 4.6 any gear will be fine because the Eco makes a lot more power than your 03. If you won't be pulling much get a higher gear so you can get better mileage when empty. If you think you will be upgrading your trailer in the future get a lower gear now so you aren't under powered with a heavier trailer. If you get the max tow package I think the only way they come is with the 3.73 gears.
Thanks everyone for the input. With the extra 80hp the EB has over my 4.6 I think the 3.31 axle will be my choice as I do not have any plans on towing any thing heavier Than what I have now.
I will soon be trading my wife's 11 F150 FX4 5.0 for a 13 FX4 Eco with max tow. We love the 5.0 and now we will try the Eco boost for a while. Hopefully we like it as much as the 5.0, time will tell.
