Owners since new.
I am looking at replacing a couple of things, gpr and belt tensioner. I know there are alternitives out there, but I am curious how well the oem stuff lasted.
So, if you have had your truck since new, or know the history of it (bought from relative, etc) please chime in with how long: alternator, starter, gpr, belts and pulleys, whatever lasted?
I have had mine for 2 years,3rd owner, previous owner had for 5. No idea what the first owner did. I can sort of document back 'till about 140k, but no real idea what po did and when. The guy I bought from did replace the alt and starter, but not sure what was on it before. I am looking at replacing the things I mentioned, but if they are original I have a hard time not going back with Motorcraft. Truck had 191k when I bought it.
A lot of us bought ours used with a lot of miles so that is why I am curious about the life expectancy of the oem stuff.
Thanks.

My 99 still has the OEM starter, alternator, turbo, hpop and gpr.
Water pump was replaced about 18 months ago, the belt tensioner and idler pulley about 24 months ago, the power steering pump yesterday.
The belts and hoses were changed out prior to failure so I am not sure how long they would have gone.

I bought my 97 E350 new, sold it last November with 222K.
I replaced the idler pulleys, tensioner, vacuum pump and water pump once each, the starter and GPR two or three times each.
Most of the OEM parts (except the GPR) lasted 125K to 175K. The water pump was replaced under warranty around 30K.
Other than those items, the motor was never touched.

So Roland, are you saying everything else has been replaced? I am impressed with original starter.
Hope to hear more concerning gpr's and gp's from up north. Ours don't get worked here very much.

Most of the other items were replaced due to maintenance or upgrade. W/P has been replaced 3 times. Alternator once. Some are still in service, just not on my vehicle. i.e. fuel pump, turbo

Purchased new 9/8/01
Alt - original
Belt - original
CPS - changed (about a year before the recall was announced)
Fuel Pump - replaced several times **but note** - i operate on vo mostly - my failures were with bosch pumps - airtex has not failed. This is the reason i am a fan of airtex and have no faith in bosch.
GPR - original
Hose upper radiator - still ok when replaced in 2012 to install the dual alt version
Tie rods - changed ~60k
Starter - repaired (not replaced) a few years ago

Owned mine since new 8/27/01
-GPCM failed the day after I got it, it failed again in 2008, been good ever since.
-Waterpump failed 2007, 2008, and 2010 it never failed again after I switched to Ford Premium Gold.
-Original Trans failed at 127K due to the mechanical diode, ended up with an HD4R100.
-Original batteries were replaced September 2003 and again August 2005 and again in August 2007. Switched to Duralast Gold batteries and alternator haven't had much of a problem since unless it was my fault.
-First set of brakes were Fall 2004.
-Front rotors warped for the first time Fall/Winter 2009, were replaced by Wagner rotors, haven't had a problem since.
-Power Steering pump failed spring 2010 due to the high pressure line blowing off, I replaced the pump and all the hoses while I had everything apart. The line blew off again spring 2012, no big deal though.
-Injectors were swapped for some Casserly Stage I's Fall 2011. They had about 320K at the time and were just tired.
-Glow plugs and UVCH were swapped due to age and burnt pins on the driver side Fall 2012.
-Installed a 38R to feed my Stage I's the air they craved. Nothing wrong with the stocker I had, it lives on in TXtinct's truck.
-Replaced the HPOP for the first time June 2008 replaced it with an OE pump. Fall 2009 the OE pump couldn't keep up and was failing, so I bought Bob's Adrenaline. Spring 2011, I wasn't too much a fan of Bob's Adrenaline, so I went with Joey's T500. Not a problem since.
-IDM developed a short winter 2010, was replaced early Spring 2011.
-Stock thermostat was replaced summer 2008 due to failure.
-LPOP was replaced as a precautionary measure Spring 2012.
-Ball joints and tie rods were done Spring 2011 and replaced with Moog greasables.
-Stock springs were sagging and tired by Fall 2007, so I lifted the truck instead of going with OE. Paid for itself several times already.
Not much in the way of waranty claims and like a few of the others, things that were changed were either maintenance or go-fast parts that were added.
Other than that, she's a solid trouble-free truck even in her old age.
