I assume you mean that you unplug the SPOUT, start the engine, then plug it back in while the engine is running? Or does the engine refuse to turn over with the SPOUT in? Perhaps the static timing is way too advanced? Did you check that yet?
One of my friends installed his plug wires incorrectly, such that everyone was off by 1 clockwise position. The order was still correct, but he had to really retard the distributor cap to get the engine to just run. It still left the timing so advanced that he could not see the damper mark with the light.
Thanks for responding. Yes it is start with spout unpluged , then while running plug it back in. Runs great then , so the timing must be OK. Just a start ,random problem. It will start ok several times , then no start, requiring the unplug of spout. Usally happens in the mornings after sitting all night. Any ideas ?
