Yesterday my FSS wasnt getting 12v power. I rigged a 12v wire from the battery to the FSS. Today I went out to start it and it wont turn over very fast. I left the 12v wire on all night, therefore the FSS had power all night. This morning the FSS has power from the factory wiring. I put my battery charger on 120 amp start and jumped it with my car. My car never has any trouble jumping my truck because it has a 140 amp alternator. Truck acts like its ether locked, where it turns over just not very fast. Truck has 220k miles IP has 8k on it, just replaced all glow plugs with Ford Motorcraft last month. I will turn it over for a little bit and take a break. The next time I crank it over it cranks over faster and longer. In the low 20's here. I never had this problem before and it was this cold. Not sure if the block heater works because the PO installed a heater in the lower radiator hose.
You killed your batteries by leaving that FSS hooked up. The IDI requires two fully charged batteries to crank it over. Fully charge or replace those batteries, you'll be fine.
It was the batteries I got it eventually running then drove 15mins to grandparents were it wouldnt turn over again. 2 large wheeled battery charger and it was running again. Bought 2 carquest batteries today and it cranks over much faster. 1000 crank amps 32 degrees and 850 at 0 degress. 5 year warranty $92 a piece.
Well, my family owns a sawmill so we get a business discount. Certain percentage off plus no tax. i got a gear reduction starter also so it spins over crazy fast now
