Does anyone know something I can use to turn the black trim back to black again? I am talking about the trim around the windows and windshield, also the plastic on bottom of the mirror (newer F150 sport) and the bed caps from the factory. The trim has turned brown and the bed caps and plastic on the mirror have wacar wax) on them??
I have found a few things that work. For a pretty much permanent fix there is always painting them. For an easier fix that requires routine use, I have found that a product called Back To Black works well. What I am using now is the same stuff I use on my tires. It's that spray on and forget it Armor-All. I wipe down the bumbers, mirrors and any trim that I put it on. I wash my truck once a week and usually reapply it after I wash and before I wax. It usually will last a couple of weeks without reapplication though. I have heard that warm peanut butter will remove wax on the plastic, but I haven't tried it personally.
Jim, I am also from the bayou, and know the uses of Duct tape and spray paint, and WD 40, they can fix anything. But they do not come NEAR my new truck!
I once used Turtle Wax Tire wax on all my black plastic but I guess the executives decided they'd make more money selling a spray on that has to be reapplied every 3 days rather than a cream that would survive a pressure sprayer attack.
Eagle One just came out with a new tire spray that looks promising, it worked good on my plastic as well. Comes in a big blue spray bottle, should be in just about every Walmart by now.
