Transfer case swap
Father in law has a 2000 F250 PSD with 7.3. The transfer case is banging and clacking when engaged like my old huffy 20inch did with a loose chain as a kid. Anyway, I found a transfer case that is out of a 2001 F250 with a 5.4 gas. Is this a possible swap?? I haven't yet compared the data stamped on the cases, just curious if anyone knows off hand if the Gas/Diesel engine difference would affect the transfer case design?? i.e. tailshaft size..etc...

Not sure with the new age ESOF and stuff but I know in ALL previous ford trucks the transfer case from pretty much any truck will work in pretty much any other truck.
Our 94.5 shat out its transfer case and received a transfer case from some F150. My old 89 F250 had an old 70's all steel transfer case.
