My son has a 1988 f 150 with the 351w he will be going down the road and it just dies ,if u leave it set for a half hour it starts right up like nothing ever happen. We did change both fuel pumps ,fuel filter, and the pick up coil ,cap, wires and the ignition control module and it still does the same thing ,anyone have any ideas please?
What do you mean by the pickup coil? The one inside the distributor, that you have to disassemble the distributor to replace?
Three common things to cause the problem you are having. The ignition coil that has the large wire running from it to the center of the distributor cap. The pickup coil I talked about in the first paragraph, and the ignition control module which you have already replaced.
Yes i replaced the pick up coil in the distributor, but i didnt change the ignition coil yet,i didnt know if i should try that next but i will. I also heard people say it might be the computer ,but since its alot easier and alot cheaper to change the coil i will give that a try first. Thanks for your reply
