78 EGR Help
Hey, I just bought my first beater/project car and I'm trying to replace the EGR valve, the thing is I can't find it -_-. I need to pass emissions because I live in AZ so i just did a extension to the exhaust to go back further which I plan to remove when I complete emissions. But I can't find the EGR valve, is it below the carb?

Many Ford V8's of that vintage had an EGR Adaptor Plate between the base of the carb and the intake manifold, with gaskets between each. A part of the adaptor plate casting stuck out, and the EGR Valve was mounted on there. Some people would remove the EGR Valve and put in a block-off plate where the valve was. Others would pull out the whole Adaptor Plate and throw it away. Should be easy to see if you have a real thick plate between carb and intake, and if it has the protrusion for the EGR valve mounting. Hope you find it's there. The valve is easy to buy new. The adaptor plate will be harder to find. Maybe on ebay.
