axle code is blank
I bought a 2000 Excursion the other day and was trying to figure out what gears is has. I checked the build sheet inside the door jam and under axle code there is nothing at all. Its has 285/75/16 tires and does 2000 rpms at 60 mph. Just guessing but 3.73?

There should be a code wich relates to the gears - I think from memory (so probably wrong!) 31 = 3.73 gears
And there should be a tag on the diff, one showing what oil to use and one showing what gears

That site rocks! I used it to research dozens of Exs before I finally found my current 2004 Excursion.

Most, if not all, the 2000 Excursions didn't have the code marked on the door sticker. Mine is blank too.
