I have a '73 F-100 w/ 360.... I think the routing of the vacuum hoses are messed up, big time.....They are now as follows......
Vacuum port, right side of carb.to"nose" of spark advance...Manifold vacuum tree to "base" side of sprk. adv. ..
Manifold vac. tree to bottom port on two ported vac. switch..EGR to top port of vac. switch...It has a deceleration valve or check valve between the carb. and distriburtor ... It's installed properly but lets flow towards carburtor.... I feel this mess is why my vacuum guage is registering low... Can anybody straighten me out?? Thanks...

Thank ya' much, but I tried Auto Zone Web site before and they didn't go back to '73..... I was hoping to find someone with a '73 that's "been there, done that".....
What calibration do you need? There are three different ones for manual and automatic each, for a total of six. If you're not sure, check out Mil1ion's web site. I think he has a page that shows how to read the calibration number of the valve cover sticker. If not go to my sorry site: tetraruby300.freewebsitehosting.com -> follow the emissions stuff, there's a page that shows how to read the label for your vintage truck. Still not sure? A description of what you have will help ie. 4X? Manual or auto, GVW. At least we can narrow it down so I don't have to scan that many drawings. Be patient for a response, school's back in session - I'm short on time these days. Cheers!
I think the labels on my motor are long gone unless it's an embossed style label attached by a valve cover bolt. I'll have to check.
My truck was purchased new by my Dad in California, so if there were any additional emission stuff that year, this would have had it. On the other hand, my Dad may have removed some of it!
What it does have is a stock two barrel Motorcraft carb with a vacuum port on the front of the base and on the right side of the carb, (1) two port vacuum switch mounted in the top of the intake, (1) three port vacuum switch mounted on the discharge elbow feeding the radiator, and of course, EGR, vacuum advance, vacuum tree.
i seen people plug the pvs dont bother its only a switch, u will need the vac advance line so it get vac at throttle to the dist, and u need a the vac line running from the intake to the vac modulator on the automatic trans, i would plug the rest, if u have to go through emissions i think u can run a pos vac to the bottom of the pvs and then off the top of the pvs to the egr valve. in theory you want the egr operating at full temperature with open throttle so u might have to t off the vac advance line i dont know because its been a few years since i had to do emissions. i always un hooked the egr because u dont need it. on my street rod or any other older motor u look at these are the only two hooked up, vac adv, and any vac modulator on the trans, and any power brake equip. obviously
tetraruby,
Here some spec to work with, 1973,250,4x4,vin#f26yrs0441,manual trans,390ci,mod262,bodyf4,axleb4p,gvw7800#date made 6/73,carb#d3tf-gc-b3f21, I also need a vacuum diagram, don't have to worry about smog here in nevada, thanks,Don.
I'm following Fordtrks4fr's advice. It is the way I had the lines routed for the past few days and I'm pleased with the response of the motor. I'm tired of messing with the vacuum lines and will consider looking at the issue again sometime in the future.
I don't think my collection of diagrams is as complete as I thought. Go to tetraruby300.freewebsitehosting.com -> emissions data link -> others link Sorry, I can't hot link.
Notice that the model mentioned is F100. I don't have any diagrams for a 360 other than the F100 ones. This was the only one for a 4X standard. It should at least get you started. The plumbing appears relatively simple. I have on other diagram that covers F100 - 360 4X w/ a 3.50 rear. No mention of AC on any of the calibrations. Can post the other if needed. Hope it helps.
