Need info on Extended Warranty
#2
Personally I would only go with the vehicle manufacturer for an extended warranty.
I had a couple with GMPP on my Silverado and might of broke even.
Here is a link for Ford Extended Service Plans..

You can get a quote online - they seem reasonable to me and I plan on purchasing it one month before the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires.

I recently bought a 100,000 mile esp warranty for my 2010 lariat. I took the one above the basic power train because it covered a/c, suspension and some brake components. I opted for the $200 deductable and paid around $1100....I would only buy a ford warranty. I got stung on an after market warranty some years ago. First time they would not cover tie rod ends and the second time they were out of business!!

When I bought my '11 6.7L new, I opted for the Ford ESP. A good friend of mine had hell with his aftermarket warranty on his Dodge, where the A/C kept going out and they started denying his claims because he bought the truck with oversized tires on it. Go figure.
I had decided I wasn't going to bother with an extended warranty, and the paperwork guy at the dealership tried to push an aftermarket warranty on me. I told him I wasn't comfortable with that, and he said OK and tried to push Ford's on me. I told him I wasn't interested, but he persisted. Finally he came down about $500 off the initial quote and was shaking his head, saying I should REALLY get the warranty, considering how a single repair could cost more than that. I finally agreed when he got down to a bottom-dollar price. I think I paid $1600 for the 6-year/100k bumper-to-bumper.

Just bought a 2103 f-350
I would only buy the genuine Ford warranty. I bought the 7 yr, 100,000 mi most comprehensive plan plus a maintenance plan. I got the ESP for $2,160 by shopping on line and then showing printout to dealer.
The maintenance plan was extremely expensive: $4,600! I'm still trying to get over feeling like I spent too much.
It includes all maintenance on everything for 7 yrs, 100,000 mi every 5,000 miles with 100% synthetic or 20 visits.
That 100% synthetic was the most expensive part and I'm not sure that was worth it. I kept my 1988 f-250 for 25 years (still have it) in mint condition. I changed the oil myself every 3,000. Motor is like new.
But I'm 72 years old. I'm not going to get any advantage of an extremely high milage motor one might get by any theoretical advantage from using synthetic oil. I'm very concerned that I will ever put 100,000 mi on it in seven years! If I don't I wasted the rest of the money.
According to the manual I will put "Very heavy" use on the motor with what I do. 6,500 lb load ALL THE TIME, high speed interstate, steep mountain road, dirt roads and 4x4 rough off road use.
But the person that buys my truck in eight or ten years with 100,000 on it and drives it to 250,000 is the one that will get the benifit of my 5,000 mi oil changes with 100% synthetic, not me.
I'm seriously thinking about going to the dealer and seeing if I can downgrade to fossil oil and get some money back. But.......we go into extremely remote, rough off road places where there is no cell service and it would be almost impossible to get a tow truck in. The rig is our boon docking RV. Been doing that stuff with horses all my life. We have emergency back packs with hiking boot and water in case of break downs.
Knowing that 6.7 has the best possible bodily fluids lets me sleep a little better. But how would I ever know what kind of oil they actually put in?

I bought a 3rd party warranty when I bought my '07 F350. When I bought it, it was within 3 months of the factory warranty expiring. I opted for the additional because (based on much input from this forum), I could see that the truck had early signs of head gasket issues. I used that info to get a great price on the truck. I chose the 3rd party plan vs. ESP beacuse I also knew that if Ford fixed the head gaskets, they would simply put it back to stock with the head bolts vs. studs. I paid about $2K for a 4 year/48000 mile policy. And the policy is transferable and covers everything except normal wear items. Since I worked the dealer for about $4K off of his asking price, I think the price of the warranty was fair. When I had the head gasket job done, the warranty covered everything except the cost of the non-Ford parts; ARP studs, EGR delete, coolant filter, tuner, etc.
