Hi, You fellows helped me out with the correct paint color for my 53 flathead f-100, but since I'm doing a bunch of work thats not stock but maybe not outright dark side, it occurred to me that I really don't like the funky blue green paint krylon 2007 or whichever, on the engine. The firewall is red and everything else black in there. Would some kind of ford dark blue color look good? For now I';m sticking with eab heads which will be painted the same color. I do have some nice looking Red's long tube headers which are almost to chrome looking. What are your favorites?
I like that blue Ross. Sets off the headers nicely. Wow Kevin, I've never been to images.google.com. Lots of options but it looks like folks mostly stuck with traditional blues and reds. Some of the red ones really popped. I don't guess I'll be needing paint till the end of Feb. So I'll post some pics when the time comes. Still waiting for room at the machine shop but at least I'm next in line. All the efv8 guys swear by him around here.
As Carolina said, make yourself happy. Do you want traditional, original, body matching? I almost always work some black, aluminum or chrome in as an accent color. I never used black as the primary as it just won't stay clean looking for long in my experience.
i'll be repainting my EAB (from a 53 car) before i put it back in my 49 f1. it still has the orig tangerine paint on much of it. i considered painting it tangerine as it was in the car. i also considered ford blue. my understanding is that the truck engines were red. since the only colors i have on my truck are black, red and brushed nickel color, i decided to paint the engine red. since i don't have the correct engine in it anyway i'm going with the red. do what makes you happy. my walmart trailer tail lights give an early indication that i am not doing an OEM truck.
