7.3l higher km maintance?

Hey guys so I'm fairly new to this but, just pulled my 7.3l into the shop have some work to do for sure. The tranny went in oct towing a big a trailer. It was my bad for not changing or doing a hot flush on the cooler or rad o/w cooler. But any ways I'm running a 02 7.3l with 390 k Kms on it have a 3 inch straight pipe and AFE stage 1 cold air with a spt programmer. And BDS adjustable waste gate actuator. I just got my trans in, went with a stock 4r100 with hd low stall torque converter. So I picked up a new rad, figured with the k I could use it. But they want $500 for a tranny cooler from ford. I hear some guys use the 6.0l coolers?

But any ways since I'm going to have the ol girl in the shop for a spring tune up lol. I'm doing the injectors as well w/e else comes along the way. But I just don't want to be nuts deep in this truck again in a few months any thing else. That you guys would do while you have the truck apart at almost 400,000kms. I do abuse the old girl quite about as we'll.

What is a km? Just kidding.....the 6.0 cooler is the nest for the price and def does the job. They can be found on eBay or similar think I got mine for under 200. However when installed the 6.0 will not allow your trans temps to get up to 175* which is the recommended temp. So a Derale transmission tstat is needed to help it get up to temp. Of bypasses the cooler until it gets to temp then opens to keep temps in check. There is a thread on this search "Derale thermostat". I just installed mine and it does it's job.

I looked around a little bit today and found an add on o/a cooler from BD Deisel. its a universal but has just a little more surface area than the stock one. but it also has a fan mounted on the cooler so im going to give it a try if it keeps up. sweet if not ill just tos another after market cooler in. i can pick-up a motor home trans cooler, generic, for $80 and i got the after market one for $350 with all the goodies to mount and plumb it in. worst comes to worst im still same or better for the dollars with an up grade. lol, but did any body have any under the hood issues i should look in-to. just order glow plugs to gow ith injectors.

You have nothing to worry about, My 7.3 has 285,000 miles on it or 458,633 km. Just stick with quality fluids and filters changed at the correct intervals and the motor will be happy for years to come!
