The front I had a 1992 front harness, a 1993 and a part from a 1995 Bronco. I also wanted relays for the trailer stop and turn.

When I finished building them I wrapped the harnesses with Autozone or Northern Tool plastic electrical tape then slid split sleeving over them and taped it. I kept any tabs Ford used in place. The end result looks factory and is weatherproof as all splices are soldered and heat shrunk. I also stagger them so I don't end up with a huge "bump" at the joint. If I can't do an entire wire in the original color, I will extend it with two splices so the connector ends are correct.

I did the same thing on my 85 LeBaron convertible when I converted it from a 2.6L NA to a 2.2L Turbo II.
I have noticed that the original harnesses are wrapped loosely ( very ) with tape, then put into their split housing and then better but still loosely taped on the outside again, they must have access to a higher quality electrical tape than what I have found

I don't know about RJM's Harness Wrap, I got some with the 160 amp alternator kit and it wasn't worth a damn, came loose real fast.

The harness wrap is applied like the factory stuff, you need to tape the end so it doesn't come loose. I've been pretty happy with it so far.

I have seen guys that use the small zip ties at the end of the loom, it holds good, but i don't really like the way it looks.

Bought a can of gardner bender liquid electrical tape the other day. Have to say its pretty amazing stuff. Its not pretty or anything if thats what you care about, and wire needs to be clean oils/grime free, so might not be good for the quick repair. But, compared to the cost of heat shrink (which based on the weight of gold or something ****) id say its pretty good.

Sounds like what I've been using for the last 25 years or so. I can't remember the exact brand off the top of my head.
I also frequently use the plastic split loom.
As long as all connections are well crimped and sealed moisture seal heat shrink you don't need to worry about exposure to moisture.
Also dielectric grease on all connections that need to be able to come apart like spade and ring terminals, etc.
