I found this guy wandering the dirt road in the East Bay hills. It was in early October so he was looking for some spider action. He was pretty gentle and really didn't care that I was checking him out.
Tarantula's are common here in the Bay Area.

"GENITAL" Say what???? How do you know? did you get that close?! Or could you see 'em hangin from a distance?
I have to say thats a bonus to living in the great frozen north, no 8 legged, biting, stining little friggin things for at least a few months out of the year!
Looking on the bright side, you dont have to worry about having a roach or ant problem in your cab............seriously though, what I have done for ants in the past and it worked is spray the engine compartment and the firewall (eng compartment side) with insecticide as I cant stand the smell of Raid. Seems to run them out of the truck.
I have not laughed this hard in years! The visual image of this in my mind is priceless.
I've had many priceless junk yard expierances with all sorts of animals, bugs and critters. Racoons and snakes are usually the most exciting situations. A squirl sent my buddy out of the closed sunroof of a Honda Civic.....he ended up with 17 stiches and one helluva story for all the chicks.....

Damm Spell Check... LOL! I'll fix that in a edit, sorry everyone.
I don't like spiders. Except tarantulas...they are cool and don't hurt much. Found one's home (hole) in my field and fed it a small frog--but I digress. We had an infestation of brown recluse spiders in our home and they are bad news; they get pretty big and so I don't think you're off base for wanting to eradicate anything that might be in the truck.
I found this guy (not a brown recluse) walking across my garage a few months ago. As big as a small tarantula and real ugly. Shot it with some wasp spray (all I could grab) and it still wiggled for a while.
