cam shaft position sensor question

2000 flex fuel 3.0 4x4 .

i have checked the fuel pressure and it is good.
i have good stong spark to each plug.
i have cleaned each plug. and i have a no start situation.

does the cam position sensor control the injectors firing?

or does it control the firing order for spark?
i can crank her for a few cycles .
and then pull the plugs and they are dry, with no fuel smell.

the motor has a cam position sensor and a crank position sensor.
i just need to know what each one controls.

If you have spark, your crank sensor is ok.Cam sensor opens injectors at the correct time.I am have the same problem with a 2004 4.2L.I am at a loss myself. If I find any info I will relay it to you.

You nees to check for fuel pulse at the injector. See if they are getting pulse from the computer or not. It can be checked with a test light if you are careful with lead conected to each pin have someone turn the key over and see if the light flashes. if not you have a cam sensor bad or an ecu problem possibly. If it is the sensor, usually it will go into limp mode. This will keep the truck running on a low power range to get it to a safe place or garage. Check for the fuel pulse next and lets us know the results. Good luck.

Thumbs up

well i got her running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank-you for your insight everyone.

i went out and reconnected the battery.
pulled the connection at a injector port.
tested it for a constant ground without the ignition on. ( it does have)
and had my wife crank it over so i could test the injector lead.
and by god she fired up and died.
after three start=ups i reconnected the hose to the air cleaner and intake.
hooked pvc and iac back and she ran a little rough, then cleared up.

while i was checking for fuel pressure friday i had changed the fuel filter.
it had bad gas in it,and i poured it into a cup.
the fuel from the tank was clean, so i installed the new filter.
i bleed the rail till it had clean smelling fuel.
i also pulled the plugs and left them out untill today.

i tried to start her a few hours ago and nothing.
we went to test the injectors and she runs .
maybe i reset something by pulling the lead to the injector.

it must have been the bad fuel the whole time.
maybe a few hours ago when i tried to start it i had finished bleeding the bad fuel from the rail.

there is not a engine light on, after driving for a few miles .
ever since i had bought it she had a slight stumble at idle.
now that it gone too.

thank-you everone for the info and have a great night.
