i have the donor pickup,a 97 dodge 12V. i have a few question about this truck being that its a 2wd and my ford is 4wd. can i marry my transfer case to the transmission in the dodge? this is my first question.
also wondering if anyone has done business with fordcummins? i particular im wondering about there motor mounts.
thanx for taking time to read my post, looking forward to hearing back from you...Wayupnorth

That option is reall up to you. If you get a 4wd trans you are still lookin at $350-$400 for an adapter to put the ford transfercase behind the dodge transmission. I did my first conversion on a 79 f-250 which has the smae frame as yours. Alot of the swap depends on you ability to fabricate and your budget.
Thx for the reply it's a77.5 lowboy. Would I be better off to get a 4x4 trans?
Depends if you want to keep the trans from the donor truck. Would probably be a lot cheaper and easier to keep the 2wd trans from the dodge truck and put a divorced tcase in.
A bit of a side not, but please dont tell me that you plan on keeping the cummins stock when you swap it in.
well sounds like the divorced t-case is the ticket then. the guy who owns the donor has done some tweaking already. so for now ill just get it in there and next winter it s gonna get overhauled then it will be ready for some super tuning
have you done the swap yourself by chance? fordcummins sells motor mounts so i need to call them soon. do you know if these many cab mods to do other than the clutch master cyl? seems like a fairly straight forward swap but all the input i can get the better. thanks much for responding to my post!!! happy new year!!!
sounds like the divorced t-case is a good choice then. is there many cab mods to do other than the clutch master cylinder? looks like a fairly straigh forward swap. what is your opinion on the fordcummins motor mounts? andwill the dodge radiator be ok or do you recomend a different one?
its nice to talk to someone who has done this swap already!!! thank you very much for responding to my post!!! very cool
That being said - I'm not one to talk as my 4 year project isn't done yet either.
I do have the 2wd trans in my '74 highboy with a divorced t-case though and like it so far... Which doesn't count for much since it's still sitting in the shop
