My defroster only works on the cold side when the ac compressor is on but when I put the temp control on hot the compressor shuts off and the windows fog up. Could be the heater core is leaking but no coolant dripping in the cab. Wouldn't it fog up both cold and hot with a leaky heater core? Any suggestions would be great. 1971 f250 camper special factory ac
Thanks for the post jowilker. So the compressor should stay off with the temp on hot and in defrost mode? If so do you think it sounds like a bad heater core?

1968/72 F100/350: Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are located in the same panel as the heater controls.
Heater core is seeping coolant into the A/C/heater plenum chamber. When defroster activated, vapor fogs up windshield. Common problem that affects all vehicles with leaky heater cores with or without A/C.
Be aware that the heater core (C8TZ-18476-A) used with factory A/C is different than without. No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any. I doubt autoparts stores will have it.
You'll have to take it to a radiator shop and have it recored.
