Hey everyone, had a quick question on how much total timing and advance spring selection.
I have a 460 punched .60 over with flat top pistons, d3 ported heads stock valves, about 9.2-1 compression, comp cam 218 intake 224 exhaust @ .050, msd electronic distributer #83506 with the silver advance springs, weind tunnel ram under dual holley 600 vac. Seccondarie carbs. This motor is in my jet boat that will turn about 4500-4800 rpm.
Anyone know which advance springs I should be running in the distributer and about how much total timing I should have with this setup?
Also wondering if I need to step up the jets with my compression jump I just made with the flat tops. It has the original .65 primary jets in it now and I'm at an elevation of about 5280. Thanks, any help would be grealy appreciated.
Ok I'll start there thanks, how about what rpm should my advance be all in by? Just need to know if my timing curve is anywhere close to where it should be. I have the silver springs springs in the distributer now.
Thanks again for your input monster, you have been a great help
Great thanks! I have the heavy springs in the distributer now, the chart says you don't get full advance until almost 6000!! Just how bad was that hurting the performance of the motor?
