got a '96 F250 with a 460. When I start it cold it goes off fast idle too soon but will go back to fast idle when I put it in a drive gear. Put it back in nuteral or park and it slows down again. Any thoughts? Thanks
DTC 411= Cannot control rpm during KOER low RPM check
DTC 412= Cannot control rpm during KOER high RPM check
Both of those codes are from the Key On Engine Running (KOER) tests. What codes do you get on the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) and Continuous Memory (CM) checks?
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my battery went out right after that and I lost all codes. Do the codes I posted tell anything?
Those codes do not really mean much at this point. It does indicate the computer cannot control the idle RPM via the IAC but this mimics what your initial problem statement is.
A common cause of those codes are a sticking/faulty IAC, vacuum leaks or a faulty PCM (computer). The last one listed is a very rare cause.
It would be more beneficial to run the KOEO tests and CM display.
