I have a 1997 Ford Expedition. The tranny was replaced a few years ago. I am trying to find out what tranny is in my vehicle. The ID codes on the tag are as follows:
A287 3 4406-17
154523 F75A-CC
Also I found the following on the Bell Housing:
RF-F2TP-7A040-BA

No sure any of those #'s are pertinent. If it's a 5.4l w/auto it's probably a E40D/4R100.

Okay. So far all we know is that your Expy is a 1997. It would be helpful to know what engine you have. The eighth digit of your VIN will tell the engine in your truck. In 1997 a "6" is a 4.6L Windsor engine, "W" is a 4.6 Romeo engine, and a "L" is the 5.4L. (Hint - the make, model and year of your vehicle in your sig line and add the eighth digit of your VIN to your sig file then we will never have to guess what engine you have.)
You can look at the last line of your Vehicle Cert tag on the driver door post. There will be a single character under the TR (for transmission) and will be the code for the type of transmission in your vehicle. Tell us the code and someone will be able to look it up for you.

The tranny was replaced and is not original. He's trying to verify which tranny was installed as the replacement. Original codes or the VIN will not help in his situation.

Your r-r-r-right. I was "asuming" it was replaced with the same type as original (4R70W or E4OD).
