I have a 1976 econoline 250 with a 351w/C6 auto and my transfer case (NP205) failed on me I'm wondering what transfer cases I should keep an eye out for in salvage yards to get this van on the road again I plan on getting the NP205 rebuilt I just need something that will bolt up to the C6 so I can drive it for the time being
Yes, I recall a rebuild kit for ~ $250-300 and it was available at our local parts house. There isn't much in them if your bearings failed or if your gears went, I bet you can repair it yourself easily enough.
The NP205 should be fairly easy to bench build/fix. What happened exactly?
I shifted the transfer case out of 2h and through all gears and couldn't get to hold any gears afterward I limped back to the house by forcing it to stay in 4L while I drove
While removing I drained the oil and realized it had very little in it
When I spin the gears I hear a bearing bouncing around

Are there any specialty tools required ? The thought has crossed my mind to attempt a rebuild near as I can tell the gears are good I have removed all covers and examined what I could see
