On my '88 f250 4x4 I have my engine out for a rebuild and decided to replace my C6 tranny at the same time. So the question is, can I unbolt it from the transfer case and pull it out without dropping the transfer case and drive lines etc.? Thanks!
The mount is between the trans and transfer but on the trans side. If you unbolt it there will be nothing to hold up the transfer case. Why not just take it out as one unit? Leave it bolted toghter. Its not that heavy unless is a OLD NP203 ( Full Time 4WD)
It just seemed simpler to block up the transfer case and unbolt the tranny than taking the drive lines and linkage out. Could be wrong thats why I was asking. thanks for the input.
Anyone know if there is a difference between a 4x2 C6 and a 4x4?

Yes tail shaft and tail houseing is differnt. I know that if you have the parts a 2WD can be changed to a 4Wd and soforth. I have not done it. A trany place should be able with no problems. Other then that there the smae on the inside.
