'03 Ranger keyless entry not working
Every once and awhile, I'll exit my truck and press the lock button on the keyless, and nothing will happen. I can be standing right next to it, and noting. But the other half of the time, I can be 100 feet away or more, and it will work just fine. Is there anything I can check, or do to maybe fix the problem?

Check the battery in the remote fob. Before you buy another one, spray a shot of WD-40 on the contacts.
Do you have a second fob? If both do the same thing, then the trouble's inside the truck......

Have two, and both are the same way at times. Like today, I stoped at the store and got out, and began walking towards the entrance, the whole time pressing the lock button, finally 50 ft away it locks. i have no clue on what its problem is.

If it's still under warranty, I'd let the Ford dealer fix it.
My 2000 FSM for Ranger shows a relay box that contains the lock and unlock relays. Maybe the lock relay has a poor connection....?
Sorry, the diagram dosen't show where the relay box is located in the vehicle. I'm guessing that it's under the dash on the driver's side.....

I talked to the service manger, and he made it sound like there was nothing they could do. But its not just the lock button, its both, i can be feet away, and well nothing will work from the keyless.

Dumb question
Did you check your radio antenna? May be loose?

PS... I would find another dealer... nothing they could do is not good enough. They should change out the whole system if they have too.
