I am trying to help a fellow soldier out. He has an 05 f150 5.4L ext cab 4x4. Has about 80k miles on it. The transmission was replace at about 48k. I dont know what the details are of why they replaced it but he said at the time the dealer told him it need to be replaced because to fix the problem it would almost cost the same price. Sound fishy to me but that is in the past. Howeveer he now is having problem with it wanting to buck on him at about 45mph. Also if he were to drive down the highway and take od off it will almost stall out on him. He did take it to the dealership and they told him there was nothing wrong with it and that no codes came up on it when they hooked it up to the computer. It is still under warranty but they dont seem to know what they are doing. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.
I had an issue with my old 98 Powerstroke F250's transmission starting at 11K, I could feel something was amiss and kept reporting symptoms to the dealer. At 34K and 10 more complaints I went to dealer and told them there is something wrong with the transmission and to fix it. They again gave me the same BS like they are giving your friend, no codes, nothing wrong, etc. I came down with a copy of every service report of my bringing the issue to their attention and had a sit down with the dealership honchos as to why I was concerned with the transmission and potential failure after the warranty expired in 2K. The dealership GM told me to leave the truck a few days and they will try and duplicate the problems I was reporting. Three days later they called to tell me my new transmission would be installed the next week. Sometimes you have to force them into making a real effort at identifying the problem.
Your friend may want to take to a different dealer. It has been my experience that different dealers have different "attitudes" towards customer service and truely wanting to solve a problem.
We are kinda out in the middle of know where. He has taken it to the one in dothan and enterprise al. I think the next best thing is either going to fl or brimingham. We are both stationed at fort rucker.
