I just installed my lift kit a couple of weeks ago, and my 36" PJ's will be here wednesday. I need new gears now! Does anybody have any suggestions on name brand, web site to order from, approx cost? I'm thinking about going with 4.56's. Any pro's or con's? I will borrow a digital camera and post pic's soon. I appreciate any help.
Congrats on the lift install......good choice to go all spring . PJ's are great tires too .
4.56s sound good......sounds like it would be close to the same effective gear ratio as a stock truck with the 4.10s. Pros would be it will be easier to get those big PJ's moving.
Thanks DC, I couldn't find anything on ORU's site that led me to R&P gears only total diffs. Anyway I'm going to give Randy's a call tomorrow. I've wanted to do this big truck thing since I was 16, now at 45 I'm finally doing it! Every time I climb in, I feel 20 yrs younger. Ain't life grand! ( now if I could only get my hair back )

I'm pretty sure that MrRottnDog got his 4.56 Superior gears at ORU...........and a while back I think I might have called them about pricing on them too....I don't know. Could give them a call too, to compare prices.

Yep, life with a lifted SD is great.....gotta love these trucks. Funny thing about the hair.....you wish you could get it back and I generally tend to shave mine off .
Ok guys, Igot my gears ordered today from Randy's R&P. 4.56 Yukon's and installation kits for $699 incl shipping! I thought that to be a purty fair price for Yukon's I also ordered polished alum covers for my diffs from O.R.U. Thanks DC for yuor help. I promise, pics will be forthcoming!
looks like im too late to help ya out on this one, but i run 4.56's and 36" PJ's so my advice is accurate.. i purchased full gear and bearing sets from Driveterrain Direct for $598.00 shipped to my door... i have the V10 and pull a trailer 80% of my trucks miles... i would say it gets you close to the stock 3.73 ratio!! I should have went with 4.88's.. For pulling power... around town it is pretty descent but i would have probably benefit'd just a little more with 4.88's that would be closer to a 4.30 stock ratio... Anyway you already got the parts on order.. It will be hands down much improved over what you had.. if you dont pull much youll be perfect, if you pull any kind of trailer often, id consider cancle'n the order and going for the 4.88's... the 36" PJ's are comparable to most 37" and 38" tires of other brands, this is part of the equation to keep in mind also....

Well, had some time so I punched in some numbers in the calculator at Randy's ring and pinion site.
All RPMs are at 60 mph and what shows up in the AOD column.....not sure if they are accurate or not but should give an idea of how the gears effect the RPMs.
PJs 36" tire specs out to 36.125" according to their site but the calculator would only accept 36.1".
So the 4.56 with the 36" PJs puts it in between 3.73 and 4.10 stock but closer to 4.10. And 4.88s would be pretty close to having 4.30s stock.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info jetjock. I think I'll stick with the 4.56's as I don't tow with it. I only pull a couple of utility trailers and a '72 chebby pickup body trailer. Man do I love draggin that chebby around! I had figgered that 4.30's would put me slightly
above stock so that's why I decided to go w/ 4.56's.
