i have a problem with my heater core the truck leaks radiator fluid outside of the truck and there is a horrible "fish" smell inside of my truck i was told that i would have to replace the heater core and i would have to remove my whole dash, does anyone have any ideas or sugestions,,or do they know if i do have to remove my whole dash or could i just remove the glove box??? please help
Unfortunately you do have to remove the whole dash to replace the heater core
Have you checked very closely to see where the coolant is leaking outside the truck? It's possible that the heater core is ok but the hoses are leaking where they attach.
no i havent checked any of the hoses by the firewall yet,,that is my plan for the morning today i have just been trying to figure out what i have to do and see if i really have to take out the whole dash board,,but i do strongly think that it is just a hose leaking because there is no fluid like nothing is getting on the carpets or anything,, so could that be just possibly a hose??
and thanks for your help.
also my a/c while it is on it blows out smoke and it smells like that fishy burnt radiator smell,, could that be caused by the leak that i am having ,, i really hope it is a hose and not the core because that will be a pain removing the whole dash..
well i got it fixed,, it was some time of thing right next to my heater core and its all fixed right now,,but it came at a hefty price from ford its just i didnt want to remove my whole dash but thanks for all your help
