2013 Knee-deep BS thread!
Got a call from a long time friend and ex business partner's wife last night.
He's in the hospital with complete kidney failure, and only has a 10% chance of making it. Looks like Harley and I will be going to Walla Walla to see him one last time. I'm so tired of death...
Morning Don and Charlie.
Don, I'm sorry you have been having to deal with so many friends passing recently. Not much I can say to help you feel better other than sorry and that we (Oregon Chapter) are here for you.
On a slightly lighter note... I made it through the night. No more trees down in the 'hood. Still raining and windy. Although not as much wind as last night. I do believe I saw one of my neighbors building an arc. However, they'll probably get stuck when they need the really big timbers since nobody has a mill that can produce them and the libs won't let anyone cut big trees either.
Your actually still young, with a lot of life to offer.
You'll probably end up as the wise old monk at the top of the mountain!
The wind was horrible here last night. We had gusts over 60mph most of the night with torrential rain. Normal weather went out the window here about a month ago...
Harley needs you 'cause your his best friend, and melody needs you because your her other half...attached at the hip
Besides, your to onery to check out......
I was just watching that on the news this morning.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
If this weather continues we won't have a winter wheat crop next year. Not good for my business.
Spent the better part of the last two days in the ICU of the local hospital. Brother in Law had a woman pull out in front of him on the highway resulting in a high speed collision.
She seemed to walk away with bumps, contusions and abrasions. She was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy with both front and side airbags which all deployed. They gave her a UTC for Disobeying a Stop Sign.
Mark was driving their 1993 Mazda which was essentially no more than a tuna fish can with seat belts and a motor. Says he thought he had his shoulder harness and lap belt on, but OSP doesn't think the lap belt was on (2 piece system). I talked extensively to the trooper and he says it looks like Mark slid out of the shoulder harness at impact and slammed into the steering column and the steering wheel. Steering column and steering wheel are crumpled and pushed to the side.
At any rate he has 5 broken ribs on his right side and the right lung collapsed from a trauma impact. Thankfully, it was not punctured and they got it re-inflated. He looks like he went 15 rounds with Tyson and Ali in the same day.
They moved him out of ICU yesterday to a regular room, but during the move, the bottom half of his heart shut down for about 15 seconds. Doc said something was blocking the electrical signal from the top half. Sooooooooooooo, they wheeled his rear end right back into the same ICU room he had just left. They are pretty sure the heart thing was related to trauma from the wreck, pain and the movement involved in going from ICU to a regular room.
Out side of that, we have had 2 days of on and off tropical deluges. Can anyone say "Monsoon"?
Mark has been working 1 main full time mfg. job and two part time winery jobs to stay on top of them. It is going to take a lot for them to recover in "whole" from this. Now they are down to just my sisters mfg. job and there is absolutely no way they can survive financially on that alone. It is currently estimated that it will be 4 to 6 months before Mark can even THINK about going back to any kind of work on light duty. Hopefully their auto insurance will get the wage loss payments started under the PIP in short order and help save the day on that front.
Guess I'm going to be splitting some wood and doing more hay this fall. They had plans for getting the winter hay into their barn and several chords of wood split up this month so my sister is really fretting those problems as well..............
His prognosis is good for the long term...........it is just going to take a long, long time. And, as evidenced by yesterdays events, there isn't going to be much rushing it, at least at this stage.
We are good on the flooding. Haven't seen any yet and we kind of sit on a little gopher mound here. I'm a little worried about he irrigation pump down at the creek out on the farm, but the ranch down stream opened the dam up a week ago so the water was really low and we should be O.K. on that front. If I get time today that is on my list of things to check on.
