Question Constant code P0528

Since the cooler outside temps, I have noticed my truck doesn't reach normal operating temp as quickly as it used to. checking for trouble codes, I come up with P0528. I have checked the harness and cleaned the connector for the fan clutch, several times.

where do I go from here? I am guessing my next step is to replace the fan clutch. what are my options for fan clutches? should I stick with Motorcraft only or are some of the less expensive aftermarket units reliable?
what are the recommendations?

Unless you have visible wire damage, I'm agreeing w/ a bad fan clutch. I would stick w/ the Ford one. They make a heavy duty one - if mine ever goes bad, I will probably get that one.

heavy duty fan clutch? Only part # I come up with is a Motorcraft YB-632.

are you referring to snow plow prep fan clutch?

I doubt that we need it, but I have not heard of failures with it - maybe that is just because there aren't that many being used though.

hmmm... it appears the 4C3Z-8A616-SA (YB3013) fan clutch works on other E/F series trucks also. I stumbled across a TSB from Ford regarding 04-05 F-150s with poor A/C cooling, the TSB says to install 4C3Z-8A616-SA fan clutch.

now that I think about it, the A/C on my truck doesn't cool as well as it should and never has in the 18 months I have owned the truck. AND the A/C compressor failed on my truck this passed April. hmmmmm....

Here is the info.

Failure of the A/C compressor may be due to high side system pressures resulting from insufficient air flow across the condenser at idle and low speeds. A revised cooling fan clutch is available to improve air flow and prevent compressor failure. P/N 4C3Z-8A616-SA.
TSB #05-19-3.

I know the TSB says:
04-06 Econoline Poor A/C Cooling/Compressor Failure:

But it applies to very poor cooling on the F series too.

.... And on the UP side, the 4C3Z-8A616-SA (YB3013) fan clutch is cheaper than the stock replacement.

just bought a new one on eBay for $225.

winner, winner, chicken dinner

Update- New fan clutch installed with Pictures

New fan clutch is installed.

seller on eBay led me to believe this was a OEM Ford fan clutch. However, once the box arrived, it was obviously Not a Ford part. They sent a Borg Warner fan clutch part # 130-472-0015 (International part # ?) which is supposed to the equivalent part to the 4C3Z-8A616-SA.

https://www.dwenginecomponents.com/P...temClassNo=182

There are no obvious markings on this new clutch to indicate its anything special or different, so I have my doubts about it being a Heavy Duty unit and other people I have talked that have installed a Ford clutch say there is a yellow warning tag that says the Heavy Duty clutch may cause a drop in fuel economy, this clutch didn't have any tags. I think Borg Warner is a OEM supplier to Ford so this may be a OEM part just in a different box.

However, my old fan clutch was dead and doing pretty much nothing, so this clutch is an improvement and does seem to move a lot of air. Also, the trouble code has gone away.
