My friend has an '05 Dodge Laramie 3500 with the 5.9L and a 6sp manual trans. He's spending a big chuck of change on injectors with only 150k on them and the FASS fuel system. At least yours has the FASS already. Hopefully you have better luck but you did the right thing getting the manual trans. The dodge autos suck. My other friend has an '02 with the 5.9L and went through 3 autos in 4 years.
I would like to say goodbye and thank you to all the great people on this forum and thanks to FTE I have been a member for quit a few years but it is time to move on I recently moved to the dark side and purchased a 03 Dodge 3500 cummins with a 6 speed better suited to pull my new 5er.
I will miss all the great people and info here and will miss my OBS
Thank you FTE
Enjoy our new truck brother. I just got a 2012 1500 with the hemi
Good luck with your Cummins and its Inferior shipping crate. You cant compare a 03 to a 97. That is like comparing apples to steak. And I would HOPE that a 03 with all the things done to it would outrun a 8 year older platform
The 6.0s are problematic in stock format, but you head stud, EGR delete and oil cooler upgrade and you have a powerhouse that is reliable in a QUALITY truck
More than that, quite possibly, depending on where the Toyota and Honda were built. (And where the Fords were built, I suppose...)
"Daily" drivers - Ford, Ford, Ford, Saturn (more US content/labor than just about anything built here today), RANS (bicycle, US), Cannondale (bicycle, US) Raleigh (bicycle, Taiwan), Trek (bicycle, Taiwan)
After thinking about what I typed , I feel I owe you an apology . You did what you had to do & I should have kept my mouth shut ... Good luck , sincerely ..
