If the headlight switch connector is melted, she'll have to wire that in regardless.
Check the wire colors between the new connector and the old to make sure, but the last one I did was correct...
I would think the biggest draw is the headlights. especially if you have replaced the bulbs with the new high powerd bulbs or added driving/fog lights onto the same circuit ..so use fuses and relays . the last truck i had this problem with it was a poor switch that caused the heat up , but caused the wire to melt and melted the plug as well .
I don't think anyone knows exactly what you have done. I'm guessing the pigtails on the repair plug weren't long enough, but what did you mean yours weren't color coded? If you thinks pics would explain, post 'em up.
