Does this happen with the camper on or off? The reason I ask is the shape of the camper overhead bunk area will force air down behind the cab and it could enter through the vents. I noticed this when my sliding window howled with the camper on.
If it's only when your hauling your camper, you could probably get away with covering the vents, but they're there to do as CEEJR suggests, and to help with the ventilation of the cab.
Originally posted by robdaniels Hello gang, I've just purchased a 99 SD with ext. Cab to put a campover camper on it.
Make sure that the camper you get either is a new one that will fit the extended height of a Superduty cab, or is shimmed to accomodate it. Lots of Ford SD's have been dented on top due to this

Good Luck
Those vents are in all of the Super Duty's. They are to let air in/out of the cab. Other than that, the cab is air tight, so if this was not there, when you turned-on the A/C-Heater, it could blow-out a window. But, more importantly if they were not there, the cab would run-out of oxygen and kill the occupants.
We ordered the camper and it should be be here in about a month.
It is a Lance-Lite 835. Dry weight is suppose to be around 2040 lbs.
Would air bags be recommended?
Tires are Goodyear's, rated E.
The Truck has the tow package and a camper rear window, so I am hoping it is setup for a camper.
I saw another truck like mine last weekend with what looked like height spacers bolded into the bed. Looked like about an inch and a half spacer. I assumed this was for a camper to fit.
Thanks for the input. I am learning.
This will be my first cabover and we are towing a 17 foot Tracker Alum boat also, which is fairly light for a boat.
